Coaches – Police Check Night

Just following up on the information we discussed in regards to the Police Check Night.

The Police Vulnerable Sector Check Night will take place on Thursday May 18th from 5:30 PM to 8:30PM at the Petrolia OPP Detachment on Oil Heritage Road. We are requiring all coaches and assistant coaches to obtain a check this year to show we are doing our due diligence in regards to checking on all persons who will be coming in contact with children during the season.

On this evening you will be provided an organization letter which explains that you need a Police Vulnerable Sector Check and what it is for. You will also need to complete a description of the specific role you will volunteering for.

For those of you who have never had a check done before you will be required to present 2 original forms of identification. At least one needs to have a photo. Please see the acceptable forms of photo id below as well as acceptable forms of non-photo id:.

Acceptable forms of photo identification:

  • Driver’s Licence
  • BYID – Bring Your Identification, issued by the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO)

When these types of clinics are set up it usually only takes 15 – 20 mins to have the check completed. The organization will receive your PVSC that night. If you are unable to make it to the clinic this evening you are welcome to go and get a check done at any time. Please contact the Jason McKichan to obtain an organization letter if you have not received one yet.

Any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Coaches Clinic

We have secured a coach from the Challenger Sports –British Soccer Camp for our coaches clinic this year. The clinic will be on this Wednesday May 10th

U4/U6 will take place from 6-6:45pm
U8/U10 and U12 will take place from 6:45 to 7:30pm

We would like to see as many coaches as possible at the clinic. You are also welcome to invite some of your players to come and participate in the drills. Having them there will definitely be a benefit to them and to you. Please meet at the Lions Hall under the covered portion and we will head to the field from there.

From the feedback we have received in past years this clinic is very informative and helpful for both the new and experienced coaches. Hope to see you all there.
